Venezia Affascinante

After a long but relatively painless trip we arrived in Venice and found our B&B by early afternoon on Wednesday. Stacey the owner greeted us and was charming and welcoming. The place is spectacular and we couldn't be happier. We have a sun drenched living room and private bed and bath. We spent the afternoon walking around the area and had an early dinner at a sidewalk cafe. We were back in our room by 7:30pm and struggled unsuccessfully to stay awake. Ron crashed immediately and after about 30 minutes of reading I followed. We are embarrassed to say we slept for 14 hours and awoke at 10am.

We started day two rested and ready to wander the streets of Venice. We saw St Mark's Square and Basilica, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum and the Lino Tagliapietra Murano Glass Exhibit. We walked over the Rialto Bridge and just explored the the different neighborhoods of Venice. After 7 hours of walking we are ready to have our first authentic Italian meal. The B&B is connected to La Columbina. The owner of the B&B is married to the chef of the restaurant and so we hope to experience more than pizza and salad that has sustained us so far. We just learned that the Pope is coming to town tomorrow and Saturday. You never know maybe we will bump into him my hair is a bit of a mess.
